Maintaining your registration and coming off and rejoining the Register

When you will hear from us

We will post payment notices towards the end of October, telling you the fee for the coming year. The payment notice (invoice) will set out the fee you must pay. The deadline for payment will be no later than 31 December. We will send you regular email and text reminders up until that deadline.

If you fail to pay by the deadline, we will remove your name from the Register and you will need to pay further costs to rejoin. If you receive a reminder, call our office to make sure your payment has cleared. Do not assume your payment has been made, as we usually only send reminders if your payment is outstanding. Even though your employer or practice may be making the payment on your behalf, it is your responsibility to make sure we receive your payment on time. If your fee is not paid on time, we will remove you from the Register.

If you want to resign from the Register, you need to put this in writing no later than 31 December in any given year. There will be no extra administration cost for rejoining the Register if you tell us on time. If you are off the Register for two years or more, we will ask you to demonstrate ‘competence to practise’, and this application will cost more because of the extra work we need to do to process it. You can find more information about this on our website: www.arb.org.uk.

Payment by Direct Debit

You may want to set up a Direct Debit to pay your fee. You can do this by filling in the Direct Debit form or by speaking to a member of our team on
+44 20 7580 5861. Other payment methods will be set out in the payment notice.

If we remove you from the Register for non-payment, you will need to fill in a reinstatement form to rejoin. This is a simple process that you can do online.

If you resigned but then want to rejoin the Register, you will also need to fill in a form for readmission. You can do this online.

If you have signed up to any of the following publications you will hear from us as below.

  • EBulletin – five times a year after each board meeting, usually in February, April, July, September and November.
  • Press releases – throughout the year, when necessary.
  • Professional Conduct Committee decisions – issued following committee hearings throughout the year.
